Vie Mazur

Burlesque

Vie (they/them pronouns) identifies as transgender and queer, white and Cuban, neurodivergent, and able-bodied. They have engaged with a variety of styles of performance art, dance, and music throughout their lifespan. Vie has been a part of the performance scene in Burlington since 2011 and have been teaching inclusive Burlesque style dance classes since 2018.

Vie is passionate about the empowerment focus that the Burlesque art form and community can provide. From their perspective, Burlesque encourages autonomy, reframing and re-authoring one’s story and narratives, and disrupting oppressive social norms and structures that have been internalized. They strive to provide a safer space for students to explore the art of Burlesque, with invitation to engage in creativity and self-expression, build community, access joy and empowerment. Burlesque can provide an opportunity for each person to find their voice, personal expression, and connection with this art form. Vie is dedicated to facilitating classes that support students on their journey as they engage with Burlesque in their personal and unique ways.

Burlesque is the art of the tease: each class will focus on different themes that embody the tease, such as: chair dance, classic Burlesque moves, boa work, strip-tease, gender expression and exploration, and floor work. Vie has been trained in a variety of dance styles that are integrated into their choreography for each class. Burlesque is for all bodies and celebrates inclusion and diversity. Tease curious? Join us! All are welcome.
