Classes & Camps for Kids

While Lines is first and foremost a studio for adults, we are pleased to extend some of our high-quality classes to younger learners.

We also offer summer camps and school vacation day camps! Summer camps are now live!

CLASSES

Itty Bitty Ballet series for ages 3-5

  • A 5-week introduction to musicality and expressive movement for dancers ages three to five! Through imaginative guided movement exercises, students are given an avenue to develop a sense of rhythm, practice moving with different dynamics, and explore emotive expression through movement and gesture. Classes will also help the dancers gain spatial awareness and focus. Itty Bitty Ballet is designed to be developmentally appropriate for young children, with an end goal of giving kiddos a confidence-boosting love of dance!

    Please note that there is no recital for Itty Bitty Ballet.

  • 6-week series

    • Mondays, 9:45 - 10:30 AM, starting April 27th

    • Saturdays, 9-9:45 AM, starting May 2

Primary Ballet series for ages 5.5-7

  • No prior dance experience is required for this 6-week course! This class is appropriate for students who are ready for a more structured approach to ballet than Itty Bitty. Classes emphasize rhythm, dynamics, presentation, and very basic ballet terminology and placement. Students will gain an understanding of spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, and focus.

    Please note that there is no recital for Primary Ballet.

    For this level, the youngest students should turn 5 by September 1st, and the oldest students should still be 7 by December 31st, 2023.

Mixed Aerial Arts series for ages 3-5 / 6-7 / 8-12

  • A fun introduction to movement in the air! We offer two 6-week series: one for children ages 6-8, one for pre-teens (9-12).

    Instructors Rob Crites & Christina Butt lead students in an exploration of trapeze, silks, and hammock. Movement work starts on the floor with the apparatuses at a low height, and children are invited to explore new frontiers as they feel comfortable. Safety is always top priority!

    Parents are free to leave during class time or may stay and observe class through the glass doors of our seating area.

  • Mixed Aerial Arts for ages 6-7:
    • Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30 PM starting May 6th

    Mixed Aerial Arts for ages 8-12:
    • Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 PM starting May 6th

Musical Theater Song & Dance for ages 5-8

  • Throughout this 6-week series, children will get an introduction to the art of singing, dancing, and acting…all at the same time! Through a combination of creative movement and acting games, exploratory vocal exercises, and an introduction to basic musical theater jazz steps, children will get a taste of what it means to tell a story on the musical theater stage. Children will also learn choreography and lyrics to two different musical theater songs, culminating with an informal performance for their grown-ups at the end of the final class. Costumes welcome in each class!

    Youngest students should turn 5 by the first class.

Kids’ Hip Hop for ages 6-8

  • A fun, high-energy and supportive introduction to the fundamental movements and rhythms of hip hop! Kids will learn to move to the beat, transfer weight fluidly from step to step, and make poses and gestures in the style of hip hop. Taught by Isa Paredes, this 5-week series offers a great opportunity for kids to express individuality and develop confidence and coordination on the dance floor.

Tween K-pop for ages 9-12

  • Tweens ages 9-12 are invited to dive into the world of K-pop and learn the latest dances! K-pop has been taking the world by storm with fun, synchronized choreographies blending multiple genres, such as hip-hop, jazz, and street dance. Kids with any level of experience (including none!) are welcome!

  • 6-week series

    Wednesdays from 4:15-5:15 PM

CAMPS

Musical Theater Camp for ages 5-7

  • A week-long, half-day camp for kids who love to dance, sing, and perform! Join professional musical theater performer and instructor Merrill Cameron for a week of storytelling through acting, dance, and song, capped off by an in-studio performance for family members at the end of the week.

    DAILY SCHEDULE:

    8:45-9:30 AM Hello & Physical Warm-Up & Acting/Movement Games
    9:30-9:45 AM Learn & practice new dance steps
    9:45-10 AM Snack
    10-10:45 AM Vocal Warm-Ups/Activities/Games & Rhythm Activity, and learn song for end-of-week show!   
    10:45-11 AM Snack
    11:00-11:45 AM Learn choreography for end-of week-show and/or craft project related to the piece
    11:45 AM - 12 PM Closing Activity
    12:00 PM Pick-Up

    ABOUT MERRILL:

    Merrill is a native Vermonter who has been performing nearly her whole life! She studied vocal music at University of Vermont and has since worked with several local theater companies such as Lyric Theatre Company, Vermont Repertory Theatre, and Middlebury Community Players. Merrill recently spent a summer performing with Woodstock Playhouse in Woodstock, NY, where she continued to hone her acting, singing, and dancing chops. Merrill delights in sharing the joy of live theater with children and hopes that she can help young performers find a fun, safe, and creative space to grow through the art of musical theater.

Circus & Aerial Camp for ages 6-8/9-12

  • A week-long, half-day camp for kids who love to tumble and climb! Join professional aerial instructor and elementary school educator Sydney Amato for an active and creative week that’s capped off by an in-studio performance for family members.

    DAILY SCHEDULE:

    8:45 AM - Hello and warm up game
    9-9:30 AM - Acrobatics & Pyramids
    9:30-10:15 AM - Trapeze
    10:15-10:30 AM - Snack
    10:30-11:15 AM - Silks
    11:15 AM-12 PM Manipulations (scarf play, ribbons; juggling, spinning plates, feather balancing, etc.) & rehearsal for end-of-week show!
    12 PM - Pick-up time

    PRICE: $300/week

    ABOUT SYDNEY:

    Sydney Amato is an experienced aerialist and educator with a passion for teaching silks, lyra, trapeze, and sling. She trained at both the Circus Place and the Climb Circus Arts for a combined 10 years. Subsequently, Sydney worked for both organizations as an assistant coach for 5+ years. Sydney is originally from Princeton, New Jersey and moved to Vermont to study Elementary Education and Coaching at the University of Vermont. She is confident in her ability to create a fun and safe environment for all students to grow as aerialists, and can’t wait to help students soar to new heights!
