Caitlin Morgan

Contemporary

Caitlin Morgan is a choreographer, performer, dance and yoga teacher (RYT 200), and book editor based in Burlington, VT with roots in NYC and the Midwest. Her love for movement began with the Berrien County Dancers: a career preparatory program for Modern dance with close ties to Chicago-based contemporary and jazz repertoire companies, including Hubbard Street Dance and Giordano Dance Chicago—both of which she studied with early on in her training. She holds a dual BFA in Dance and BA in English from Ohio University where she performed and collaborated on choreographies by Bessie award-winning artists and global noteworthies in the field. Caitlin continued her professional training and performance credits in NYC for four years before an ACL tear pushed her to take a step back. After moving to Vermont at the end of 2021, she joined Slow Shapes Dance Company and now works as an independent teaching artist and touring performer/choreographer across the Northeast.

Caitlin offers physically-challenging, spatially-oriented class structures—meaning students move through all planes, focusing on how the floor and their relationship to fellow dancers in the room can inform the way they inhabit movement. Students are tasked with honoring their own bodies (apart from what the instructor’s form may prescribe), saying “no” and “yes” when appropriate, releasing expectation to arrive at pleasure, and letting their embodied voice speak through the container of the exercise or choreography.
