PEFORM WITH US!

The Commitment:

Hundreds of people attend our Showcase. In order to continue building respect and appreciation for dance, we want to present our dancers in their best light. Signing up to perform is a commitment to:

  • Taking classes consistently in the genres you’re performing in.

  • Attending rehearsals (we recommend missing no more than three, but leave it up to the choreographer’s discretion).

  • Attending the mandatory tech and dress rehearsals the week of the show (May 13th, 14th, and 15th from 5:30-8:30 PM).

  • Performing in both shows (including showing up on time and prepared) (May 16th at 1 PM & 7 PM).

Please keep in mind that the choreographers develop their work based on the number of people in each piece, and absences or dropping out can be a hindrance to everyone involved. Please note that we are not able to offer refunds for the performance fee.

The Logistics:

  • You may sign up to perform in as many pieces as you’d like.

  • Most rehearsals begin the first week of February.

  • Most rehearsals take place for 30 or 45 minutes directly following the associated regularly scheduled class each week (i.e.: The Heels rehearsals take place right after the Heels class every Thursday night). Your group may decide to schedule extra rehearsal time during available studio hours as we get closer to the show (as needed).

  • We do expect you to regularly attend class, in order to keep up your technique and conditioning.

  • There is a $100 fee to perform, which helps us pay our teachers for their time choreographing and running rehearsals. This one payment covers nearly every piece you perform in, with the exception of Burlesque and Poe, which have their own fees in order to cover more hours of rehearsal.

  • Every dancer MUST attend the mandatory tech and dress rehearsals the week of the show (May 13th, 14th, and 15th from 5:30-8:30 PM).

  • Every dancer MUST perform in both shows on Saturday, May 16th at 1 PM & 7 PM.

FAQs:

Q: Can I perform a solo?
A: To keep things fair and the show succinct, only Lines instructors may perform solos in the Showcase.

Q: Can I choreograph for the Showcase?
A: The Showcase is intended to be a reflection of the studio, so only our instructors choreograph.

Q: I don’t take class at Lines, but I want to perform. Can I join?
A: If you begin consistently taking classes at Lines for the duration of the rehearsal period, you can perform! The Showcase is meant to show off the studio and those who regularly take classes here.
